THE MONTH | OCTOBER 2018

Hi!

Happy Halloween :)

I hope you are gettin’ spooky with ya self and having a grand ol’ time.

I *treated* myself to a hazelnut almond mylk decaf coffee. That was less than $2. At the hospital cafeteria. And it was DELICIOUS. I also watched some HBO - The Sharp Objects to be exact. Being on my surgical rotation, and it’s the middle of the week - I have no time off, and this is how I am celebrating. To be honest - I need these little treats to get through the week. And these moments are the perfect treat for me. Definitely no tricks up my sleeves.

Since this month has been all surgical for me, literally back-to-back surgical rotations, I have made little time to post my intentions for the month, but I have def been following them. So I will share them still below, and include how they worked out over the month!

Pass my Plastic Surgery Rotation

Prep for my General Surgery Rotation

Survive my General Surgery Rotation

Set a two month plan for my thesis

Well, I passed my plastic surgery rotation! And, I surprisingly LOVED it. I am as surprised myself. Seriously. And bonus - I have been able to continue to scrub into similar surgeries on my general surgery rotation. And I have so far done two presentations on the topic. I am currently adding this to the list of possible interests for when I am done with school. Anyways, I am almost done with my general surgery rotation, and let’s just say, I am thankful that there are extremely helpful team members on the service who have helped me along the way. In regard to my thesis… well we’re adding that to this coming month’s intentions too.

Continue to Insta + SFG Blog

Well, I have been continuing with insta-ing, Pinterest-ing, and not so much on the blog itself. But I am still feeling v inspired, and will hopefully continue to make time for the blog during the last two months of 2018 (*shock*) and continue so for the coming year.

3 | LIFE

TIU 31 Day Challenge

Meditate everyday

Be flexible with General Surgery Rotation schedule

Less waste

Prior to starting my general surgery rotation - I was doing so well with my workouts, and my overall healthy routine. Since starting this rotation, ehhhh I’ve only worked out like twice a week.. But I’ve been up and about 16+ hours a day, eating relatively healthy (and less snacking-ish), and maintaining a relatively positive outlook, knowing I can get back to my routine on the weekends and after this rotation. When I can, I throw in a TIU workout and feel better for moving my body once that day than not. Meditating everyday - well, that has def not happened. Adding it to this coming month’s intentions. Being flexible with this rotation has been tough, cause I had to work with a new routine, but I eventually established into it, which is a positive / good thing. And lastly, less waste. I wanna focus on being more eco-friendly than I am, and just having that intention has helped me identify gaps within my lifestyle that I can improve on. Looking forward to continue to work on this during the rest of the year.

4 | RELATIONSHIPS

Enjoy staycation weekend

One of John’s childhood friends got married over a weekend, and John was so looking forward to us going together. However, I was unsure because I had no idea what my rotation schedule would be like. Thank goodness I was able to move my schedule so I could go. It was a 5+ hour drive from my rotation to the wedding area, all after a long week, in a rain storm, at night. And I somehow made it. I can say it was a real fun weekend, and I am so glad I could go see my love, his family, and childhood friends, and make some friends of my own. It was my little way of taking a much needed fun break, and enjoying a little spontaneous adventure.

This became more of a recap of the month than intention setting, however it was fun to recap this month, and find out how I can continue to grow into the next month.
